Current Title: Supervisor
ITS / Media Services
Country of Origin: USA
Lives in: Staten Island, NY
What I do at FIT:
I manage the Media Service’s Department
that provides media resources and technical support for activities and
events here at FIT. Our services and resources make a variety of
activities on campus possible. The activities range from classroom
applications for instructional purposes to fashion, theatrical and
cultural productions, lectures and symposiums. Our main focus is and will
always be our interaction with students and faculty helping them to
achieve their goals. We also work with many industrial clients who require
our assistance for their special events at FIT. These special events
usually have specific needs for their productions. As a result, we are a
very versatile department meeting the many technical demands that may
arise that also benefits our students and faculty. The future of the
Media Department lay in the very important role of providing the
technologies that are old, new, and still to come. Likewise, it is the
department’s very relationship with the students and outside groups that
keeps us and FIT in touch with the newest resources that are
available.
The Union is important to me
because:
The Union is and always has been a
valuable source of information in matters pertaining to the welfare of
employee’s here at FIT. The Union is always readily available to help
with employee problems and is a great asset for everyone who works here.
As I near my 28th year here at FIT, I realize that the Union
doesn’t just apply grease to the “squeaky wheels” that roll around from
time to time. Instead, the Union gives recognition to all employees who
have been performing their duties and beyond. In addition, the Union has
provided stability and security for all of us. I salute the Union and
thank them for being a great part of my experience at FIT.
My Message to the FIT
Community:
I have always had a very positive work
experience at FIT. I attribute my ability to excel in my work to the
teamwork, excellent communication and collaboration that has always been
readily forthcoming from my colleagues. My message is primarily to the
newcomers at FIT. There are many intelligent, creative, hardworking and
dedicated people here who are eager to share their knowledge and
experience for the betterment of the college. The number of years a
person is an employee of FIT should be viewed as an asset not a
liability. I believe this is very important especially now that we are
undergoing changes in the areas of organization, staffing and new building
growth.
I would like to thank everybody for
being sympathetic to the limited resources that the Media Department has
had to work with. The Media Department has always managed to equip the
college community and other organizations despite the consistent shortage
of resources that we and many other departments have experienced. I’m
wishing you all a great summer vacation and hope to see most of you in the
fall.
